Yes. If an application has not been written for the Mx line of chips, it will run in an emulator called Rosetta. This apps will appear as Universal in the Get Info window in the Finder. I have run a mix of universal and native apps over the past year and cannot tell the difference. The most commonly used and popular apps have now been ported to Apple Silicon. Either way, it should not be a problem.
