You might have to stop and open it to push the unblended fruit around a bit so that it can get to the blades, but it does work. I mostly use mine for smoothies with frozen fruit and it works fine.

If you use cubed ice or frozen fruit, make sure there is liquid (water/juice) inside cup so it will breakdown and mix frozen ingredients better.
