A:AnswerYes you can, but there is a little bit of a trick to it. How I got it to work was to plug in the main line at the source where the phone line comes into the house. This allows all phones on the line to function. Be careful to make sure that the line is disconnected from any other source, as telephone lines generally have some low level current running through them allowing your provider to allow your phone to work even in a blackout.
A:AnswerWe live in Washington state and traveled to California a lot. When we stayed with friends, we put our computer up on their network and ran magic jack. Never had any problems with this, note that my wife had multiple business calls each day. We never had problems. So you need active internet in each location while you live there and this will work. NOTE be sure to change the 911 information (your address) to match your current location
A:AnswerJust plug the magic jack into your router and the other end into the phone then go online to there website and follow the instructions very simple
A:AnswerThis is the best kind of phone to work with the MagicJack. It can be cordless and push button. I doubt that you could use a rotary dial with this. Would have to convert the pulse to tone for dialing but would work otherwise.
A:AnswerIf you have a wired phone lines through your house you can use one device by hooking to your phone line with the magic jack. You can hook to a cordless phone system also. Great product.
A:AnswerYes. You can add the new MJ device (Home) by logging into your account & following the set-up & registration process. Then you can designate the new device as your default & your old device will be deactivated in your account. If you are not experienced with installing & setting-up computer-related devices, I would recommend finding someone who is.
A:AnswerYes you can, but it's not included in the Magicjack service. The way I've worked around this is to purchase a base unit which has a Bluetooth feature to sync with your cell phone.
In my case, I have a Panasonic base unit connected to Magicjack, which syncs with my cell phone. Now, when the Magicjack base unit rings, if the cell phone is within Bluetooth range, it will ring too. Hope this helps.
A:AnswerNO, you don't need a monthly plan for this to work. They don't sell monthly plans. You get a free *year* when you buy/install a Magic Jack and you can then buy in 1 year or 3 year chunks of time!!! You get a US-based number and if you plug the phone in, anywhere in the world with WIFI - with a US number your calls are "free" when you call US phone numbers. ANYONE you know in the USA, can call your number the same way they would if you were answering a phone in the USA.
If you are in another country that would be a LONG DISTANCE CALL FROM THE USA - even if you are physically in the same room or next door - you will pay LONG DISTANCE FEES to call around other countries you are physically in with a US-BASED MAGIC JACK PHONE NUMBER.
I currently manage 4 distinct Magic Jack phone lines:
I use two - ONE is a personal number, and the second is one I use for "work at home" so I don't answer the phone after working hours end to maintain my own "WORK/LIFE" balance via the phone.
I manage my mother's line
I manage another elder relative's line.
One of my lines will need renewal in February this year...
One of my lines will need renewal in 2026
For both of my family members I need to renew the subscription lines in 2027.
You're good.
To connect a MagicJack, you need one of these:
--A regular phone cord with jacks at both ends. Connect one end to the phone or phone base, and the other end to the MagicJack1.
--A corded or cordless telephone, headset, or computer microphone and speakers2.
--An analog or digital corded or cordless phone3.
--A Wi-Fi adapter for computer connection4.
--An analog telephone adapter (ATA)4.
--A USB stick for computer connection5

(because I have 2 Magic Jack lines in my home office I also bought an ethernet splitter to have both phones connected to the same port for WiFi). You probably won't need anything like that.
**When you purchase the Magic Jack device, it comes with ONE FULL YEAR of service. After that, you can buy 1 year or 3 years at a time (current offer now in 2025). When I first started using Magic Jack they sold chunks of service in one year or in 5 year blocks of time. To my knowledge you can buy MORE than 3 years at a time if you want. I love the fact that there is no monthly bill.**
A:AnswerYES if the Magic Jack is plugged ONLY into a computer. If you plug it into a modem or router NO your computer does not need to be turned on 24/7.
