Q: QuestionAre you able to use an external amplifier with this unit to power the main front speakers?

• A:Answer Yep. It has front channels pre-outs. This is the only model in this price range that I found that has them. I use it this very way to integrate my stereo setup into my home cinema by connecting pre-outs to my integrated amp running a the fronts. If you are using an integrated amp (not just power amp) you are best off if your integrated supports AV passthrough.

Q: QuestionHello - Can I use the remote that comes with this to control other devices in my system? For example, can I control my DVR or my Apple TV using the remote that comes in the box?

• A:Answer Hello, While devices connected with HDMI cables (when CEC/HDMI Control is engaged) can talk with the NR1711, the functions are only very basic such as power and play. The remote control which is supplied is not a universal remote control. It will not control Apple TV or a DVR. Aftermarket universal remote controls are very popular as many of them can control an entire system. Such devices can be found at Audio Video specialists.

Q: QuestionHi all, I purchased the Marantz PM7004 which i connected to my NR1711 through front pre out and Power amp in on the 7004. I’ve been looking in the set up (amp assign) to let the NR 1711 know the front speakers go over the 7004. I can’t find the answer.

• A:Answer Hi Jack, Such a setting is not found in the set-up menu because there is no assigning to do. The pre-outs are active the moment you connect them to an external amplifier. The pre-outs are not assignable.

• A:Answer Hello, the Marantz can power up to 7 speakers. Speaker set options are 5.1 or 5.2/7.1 or 7.2. Atmos configurations 5.1.2 or 5.2.2.

• A:Answer Hi tedzep21, The NR1711 has a healthy set of inputs and outputs for a modern compact surround sound receiver. As with the vast majority (if not all) of home audio equipment, the NR1711 is not designed to connect to an intercom system for music playback specifically. If you speak with your intercom installer/manufacturer, they can tell whether or not their system is designed to work with home audio for music playback. It is worth considering that intercom speakers are designed to reveal a very lo-fi output of voices speaking into their systems. High and low frequencies are not well represented by typical intercom systems, which results in a level of sound quality which isn't likely to compliment music playback.

Q: QuestionI have active speakers, specifically Adam Audio T7Vs and a T10s subwoofer. Can I use them with this receiver by using the pre-outs on the back? And does that require a special setting to just plug and play?

• A:Answer Hello, the Marantz NR1711 receiver will work with active speakers connected to the pre-out section for front LT, RT, and LFE channels. A basic setup is required to maximize sound output, as with any receiver.

• A:Answer Hello and thank you for your question. Connecting a Reel to Reel is possible. However, it does not have recorder out. You could possibly connect a recording device via Zone 2 and setting volume to fixed out in the settings. For true recorder in/out, please consider one of our integrated amplifiers. Try the Marantz PM7000N.

• A:Answer Hello, the Marantz NR1711 is capable of a maximum of 2 zones (Hardwired). However, wireless HEOS speakers may be added for additional zones. The Marantz NR1711 has HEOS built-in.

• A:Answer The Denon AVR-S740H is equipped with Zone 2. With the AVR-S740H, you can connect a 5.1/5.2 surround sound system in your main room and 2 speakers in another room with Zone 2. Zone 2 allows for you to play the same of different music in each room independently. Zone 2 allows for Bluetooth playback or source playback. HEOS is also available with the Denon AVR-S740H.
