how/when do you add fabric softener? null

Hello CC, you would add the fabric softener at the beginning of the cycle. Thank you for your inquiry on our Maytag appliances.

I would assume the beginning of the cycle it has a spot where you put it and it should release it

In the top of agitator and per directions on your liquid. Goes on during leading.
