Q: QuestionI have an unencrypted cable service. I do NOT use a cable BOX. I just plug my coax cable into the wall socket and directly into the TV. I had it search and it found the channel like the tv would for an antenna. Will this dvr work for my setup?

• A:Answer theoretically it should. run the coax from wall to RF Antenna IN on this box then a second RF cable from box out to tv. then on the box menu scan channels using cable vs antenna. if the channels populate you are in business after set up you can also run RCA Video Audio/R/L out to TV and view on line 1 or 2 if TV has that feature Also has HDMI output if your TV can accommodate I cut the cord 10 years ago and with this box and a good outdoor antenna I get 49+ HD channels in my area Lakeland /Tampa bay, FL

Q: Questionis there a way to restart the Mediasonic - Digital To Analog TV Converter Box With HDMI And DVR without having to unplug from the wall socket? Mine locks up and that is the only way I have found to get it started again.

• A:Answer If the on/off button on the face of the unit doesn't reboot it, one of these switches as seen in attachment here, plugged into the wall outlet with the unit plugged into the switch will reboot the unit.

Q: Questiondoes this work on smart tv ...regular tv

• A:Answer I don't have a smart tv buy I suspect it should work as it has both HDMI ,RF and RCA outputs. I use it with an old regular analog tv and as a stand alone dvr. Works fine except for recording daily, has no Mon-Fri selection so need to update record date when program not on 7 days or delete. works with flash drive - I use a 128 GB and get 12 + hours of recording.

Q: QuestionMy Mediasonic hw-150PVR on timer recordings works sometimes and other times nothing. I watch the machine and it looks like its going to record and then stops and sends a error message. Acouple of times while watch it will stop and freeze up. whats up?

• A:Answer could be the flash drive. I had same problem with an ooma brand flash drive switched to a scandisk brand rarely fails usually due to weak transmission signal maybe due to inclement weather causing a bit error in recording

• A:Answer Picked mine up just last week from BB and already lock ups and times I set it to record vanish. I understand this isn't a top of the line DVR but it is one of Mediasonics better models. I did buy a 512mb gig drive so that seems to have fixed any glitching.

Q: QuestionCan I start watching from the beginning a program that's already being recorded? Can I watch a recorded program while another program is being recorded? How many tuners does the unit have? Where does the EPG information come from? Thanks.

• A:Answer I don’t know about the first part of your question since I have never tried it. The unit has one tuner, therefore you cannot watch and record two different shows at the same time. You can watch another show on your TV while recording on Homeworx if you connect the unit to your TV by attaching a coaxial cable to the RF Out and to the Antenna input on your TV. You set the RF output to “Loop”. The EPG information comes from the stations and is for twenty-hours at most. I use “Titan TV” for program schedules (goes out two weeks) and then use the Timer option to set recordings. I have not had any problems with any recordings that I have done to date.

• A:Answer yes all the channels you can get with the rabbit ears will be found on this box after scanning for channels when you set up box. Depending on your area, with a better HD antenna you may find more HD channels I only got about 4 channels with rabbit ears. But with a better outdoor antenna I get 49+ HD channels in the Tampa Bay media market

• A:Answer This device doesn't know your TV exists. Maybe you are cutting off power to the box when you turn off the TV? Turn off the TV and see if the LED on the front of the box is on. If the LED is lit, the box should be ready to record.
