Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mainline Metroid games are known for being extremely polished and the previous game, Samus Returns, was also made by Mercury Steam and it received great reviews. I absolutely love them and the developers have also said you don't have to play the past ones to understand what's going on. I'd still recommend it though just because I think they are fantastic:)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Absolutely! I'd suggest you start with one of the 2d metroid games Zero Mission or Metroid Fusion to get a real feel.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is the latest installment of a series that spawned the "Metroidvania" genre (hence the name). This series served as the inspiration for many other famous games, like Ori and the Blind Forest and Hollow Knight. If you haven't played any other Metroidvania titles, then what you're in for is an expansive open 2-D map, with the gameplay loop of "Find new movement option, like double jump, which opens more of the map for exploration, leading to finding other new power ups and abilities." There's a good sense of power progression, i.e. going back to an older area to find a powerup you missed, and you can effortlessly waste enemies that were giving you trouble a few hours ago. If that sounds like your kind of game, then it will probably be a lot of fun for you. This game also looks to be incorporating minor stealth and avoidance elements, similar to Resident Evil 8 and the 2 and 3 remakes, where you're constantly stalked by an invincible killing machine and have to run and hide from it until you find a way to defeat it, which can be stressful for some people. If that doesn't sound fun, you may be better off playing Metroid: Zero Mission, Metroid: Samus Returns, or Super Metroid (available on Nintendo Switch Online's SNES game library) to introduce you to the series.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will be extremely fun. I recommend trying to play some of the past games, whether that is through roms, buying them, or playing Metroid (NES) or Super Metroid (SNES) through Switch Online.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hope you got it. It's a blast. A new favorite for sure. One of the best designed games for the switch and although limited by hardware, maybe the best of the year.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think you will be able to have a good time with Dread even if you're new to the series. There's a cinematic at the beginning of the game that recaps important details from the earlier Metroid titles. Even if you don't pick up on every reference in the story, it doesn't have any impact on gameplay anyway. You should know, though, that Metroid Dread is pretty difficult compared to other Nintendo games, so be ready for some challenging boss fights and stealth sections if you decide to pick it up. :-)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Oh yeah it a ton of fun and is a great game to jump into.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sakamoto (the director) has said that this game is made for old fans and newcomers alike. From the gameplay showcase, it looks very streamlined and with great controls. The big thing is whether or not you enjoy backtracking and exploring. Some people absolutely love it, other hate it. Generally, with the powers you find along the way, backtracking is much more fun because you find it easier to traverse areas that you previously found challenging.
