It is a Lithium Ion battery. Microsoft claims the battery will power the controller for up to 40 hours on a single charge. That means if the rumble motors (haptic feedback) are set to off via the accessory app, you should be able to get that 40-hour life. Keep in mind it comes with an included usb-c cable that can be used to wire the controller to the xbox, not just to charge it up. And the charge dock allows for in-case charging or out-of-case charging.
