A:Answerthe surface dock helps to make things easier for connecting to power and keeping from getting to overly hot (as I noticed with the travel charger) and more importantly you can connect the higher resolution monitors via USB-C to docking station rather than the port on the side on the laptop as I noticed that it also limits the connection of the flash drive (which by the way is easier to connect to the docking station). I also noticed a lot more errors to the usb-c port when connecting directly to it daily. everything about the surface laptop is better with it since I work from home.
