I paid a lot of money for my surface and it stopped working after 2 years. The warranty was up and they wanted me to pay $600 to replace it with a refurbished one that comes with a 3 month warranty. I laughed. I'll never buy a Microsoft computer of any kind again.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've had my Surface Pro for 5 years now. I heavily use my Surface Pro; I use it for work, school, streaming and it is still working well. I used it about 50 hours per week the first 2 years and probably use it about 30 hours per week now. I did have to replace the first charger at 13 months but the second charger I bought has been working for nearly 4 years now. I'm not even that nice to my surface pro. I carelessly throw it in my purse and backpack. I don't have mine in a case nor do I use a screen protector. However, I have never dropped it. When my Surface Pro stops working, I will buy another one. If a computer can withstand my abuse, I consider it extra durable. I can't speak for other people but I have gotten 5 years out of my Surface Pro and it may last me a couple more. I tend to be loyal about a product if I have a great first experience with it. Since Toshiba doesn't make laptops anymore, I am probably going to only buy Microsoft laptops. Especially if I consistently get 5 to 7 years of use per laptop.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased a Surface Pro 3 in 2008 and it lasted me until 2021. I would still have it today had I not dropped it. I started with Windows 8. It crashed once but all my data was recovered and it was rebooted with Windows 10. It has always worked the same since I purchased it, and it was used practically everyday. I just replaced it with Pro 7, and hope that the 7 lasts me in excess of another 10 years.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I paid a LOT of money for a computer I'd thought I'd have for a long time. After accessories and everything is all said and done I'm over $1300 for a computer that lasted me barely 3 years. I'm so dissapointed and frustrated. I babied this thing, there is absolutely no reason.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've had mine for 4 years and slowly everything stopped working. First, it started with the keyboard. It just stopped working and would not connect. At all. And then it was the touch screen, it's also just stopped working and I don't know how or why. And then half the screen couldn't be touched by my surface pen. The art program I have been using for said for years glitched out completely and now my computer is stuck on a red screen, my surface pen will not work, and the power button will not work, so I am waiting for it to die. I am hoping that after it dies and I can recharge it a little bit, everything will work out, but I know that's not it because it has been slowly dying over the span of these four years. I have a surface pro 6, hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine died of the dreaded black screen after just two years seems an inherent issue !
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm updating one right now. It was bought back in March 2015. Wish me luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased my Surface Pro 3 in 2014 (Intel Core i7). It is still running! Upgraded the keyboard cover to the Surface Pro 4 version to get the fingerprint reader, replaced the power adapter last year. This has been the longest lasting computer I have ever had since 1988.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine only lasted 3 years and then got the blue screen of death
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Of course the life of any electronic item is going to be effected by its use, care, environment, and efforts to update pertinent software components/firmware however the item itself can also have an impact if manufacturing standards were not enforced, etc. The Surface Pros are a very reliable platform that in my opinion closely rivals Apple’s robust and durable Macs. I would think with proper care and maintenance that a Surface Pro would function properly for several years (2 to 3). They utilize the latest Intel processors (same used by Apple) and the latest Windows OS. The battery would be the main limiting factor as like all batteries it has a limited number of charge cycles. Hope this helps.
