I called the store and they were very confused - I called microsoft and they said to just provide a student ID. so I'd like to return my surface and/or get the discount?”

Just bring the receipt and surface back to the store. Show them your id and they should be able to give you the discount.

Surfaces usually get anywhere from $100 to $150 off. You can go back to the store, return the surface, and then buy it again with the coupon.

You go to the student discount program page on the BB site and fill out the form. They'll then send a verification email to the .edu email and you then get coupons to print out and take in-store.

Make note who you spoke to and go back to the store and speak with a manager. The folks at the store I always go to, always go out of their way to make things right.

They told me I had 15 days from the purchase date to go on best buys website @ https://www.ssl.bestbuy.com/profile/a/emailsub/student and sign up. I had to take our surface and the original box back to best buy to return it so they could apply the discount!
