• The surface pro works nicely on my lap and because it is lighter weight, it’s more maneuverable.

• I would recommend a lap desk or tray when you're using it in that location. The kickstand isn't wide enough to stay balanced steadily on your legs and the keyboard isn't completely stable either. I don't have a problem with something flat under it.
