I don’t know about the refund, but yes you can forward the email containing the code to your grandson if he has a email address.

Once you purchase the correct one, you may have to scratch off a film where the codes are located and then you could take a picture of the back and send it as a text with the codes to your grandson or his parents phone and then he logs into his game account and add the card to it from the code. As for the first card thats was xbox, maybe you could donate it to the local ymca or look for a gift card buying website and get about 60% of its worth.
