So has of right now No the Xbox series S will not support an external disc drive and allow you to play the games you own on disc. Maybe Microsoft will one day offer this option but right now not that I know of anyways. But a good DVD drive would be $100-$200 and a series X is what $200 more than the series S so why not just buy the series X 1tb vs buying a 512gb series S with the hopes they release an update to let you play disc game on it one day
