The X-Talker T71 is an FRS radio and can transmit at 2W maximum. No FCC license is required. The GXT1000 is a GMRS radio and can transmit at 5W maximum so it will have roughly twice the range under equal conditions. An FCC licenses is required to transmit on any GMRS radio. Midland's range ratings are exceedingly optimistic and only possible under very special condition.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Better is subjective. Range will be more or less the same, it's exaggerated anyway. These are FRS only Radios while the GTX1000 is FRS and GMRS (requires FCC License) and has more features. Short answer, (provided the price difference is the same as today) this model will fit the majority of individuals needs just fine.
