Historically basements are problematic locations for antenna reception. Television signals will not penetrate the ground and in most cases basement walls are concrete with steel rebar inside them for support. Yet another signal blocker. If your basement has windows above ground, place the antenna in the window. If that doesn’t provide good reception, try moving the antenna higher, either by taping it to the basement ceiling near the window, or moving it up one floor and running the coaxial cable down to the basement TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. We have three of these antenna and one of them is in the basement. I do have it in the highest point possible. It picks up the same amount of channels as the other two antenna upstairs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is possible but it depends on how far below ground level the basement is and how close you are to transmitting stations. It is very hard to determine. However, there are several free apps available for iPhone and Android that will help determine signal strength and the direction to point your antenna. Generally I have found these to be moderately accurate but should give you an idea if you will get any signal. They are at least a starting point. No way of really knowing until you get the antenna and try different positions.
