A:Answer When I purchased 2 of these devices, they didn’t ask me to activate it right away. I bought two these for my parents to replace Both of their flip phones that they had. They both have the carrier of MetroPCS. In order for it to work properly through your own carrier(Sprint,Metro PCS,Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile) anything that is capable of a Sim card will work, you can bring this phone overseas as well. You either have to call them and present them with the serial number of the phone that needs to be registered through their system network, then they will allow it. You can’t just pop in a Sim card and it would be automatically working but in some cases, it may it may not require To register the device. For instance with MetroPCS I had a call-in give them the serial number of the phone to register it, Restarted the phone and it’s synced up to their network without any problems that was the simple set up. These phones are very useful if you don’t know the android system Like my parents. It takes a lot to get used to, But so far so good, they’re happy with it. Hope this answers your questions .
