Please try again later.Unlocked means it is not locked to a carrier such as Sprint, ATT, TMobile etc etc. So a person can go from one telecom company and switch to a different one without having to first obtain an unlock code. Also it doesn't come preloaded with software that it would if it came for a specific telecom company (although there are exceptions such as some phones that are bought through Amazon for example may come with ads, etc).

Most phones are tied—or locked—to a certain cellular carrier, such as Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, AT&T, or Sprint.
