I am the OP of this question. The last answer claims this is an Android One compatible device. However in my most recent post I stated if you see the Software Variant "google_fi" it should be Android One compatible. But now I'm not sure. This phone MAY have Google Fi compatible radios and firmware, but it may NOT be supported with timely updates from Google and the Android One program. If that's the case you're depending on Motorola (Lenovo) for updates. I dunno... Best Buy NEEDS to sort this out. KEEP IN MIND THE FIRST REPLY FROM Motorola to my question: "Hi David, This model is the unlocked Moto X4, not the Android One version. -Jess > [IMPORTANT] By Motorola Customer Care 2 weeks ago. Who is Jess? How do we know he/she is actually an authorized Motorola Customer Care employee? Again - Best Buy, get this thread under control with FACTS. Then when you know what's true, modify your For Sale page to reflect the facts.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. To David, I have this phone and can confirm that this Moto X4 (XT1900-1) Unlocked -> USA type: M2997, is in FACT a Motorola Moto X4 Android ONE and if you don't know, Android ONE is NOT a Android Operating System, it's meaning that this device runs a “pure Android experience” that focuses on providing timely OS and security updates. - - - - - - - Motorola and Google promise that this device will get Android Oreo 8.0 and with a guaranteed and fast update to Android Pie 9.0 with all the security update in between. - - - - - This is exactly what happen to me: Phone started with Android Oreo 8.1.0 OPWS 28.46-21-16 and then got 5 separate Security Patches, then got the Android Pie 9.0 then got another 4 Security Patches. I am now at the Security Patch: PPW 29.69-39-2 (April 1, 2019). - - - - - I highly recommend this phone for the price I paid: $149.99 regular price was: $349.99, but now I looked and it's now SOLD OUT! as of July 6th 2019 and can only order this phone online as a used or unboxed item. - - - - - - So who ever told you it's not Android One doesn't know what their talking about
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought this phone last week. It is the google fi software variant. The phone goes through a series of software updates when you turn it on, ending up with Android 9. It then boots up with an Android One splash screen.

At my original post time the Best Buy page did not specifically state whether this Moto X4 phone is the Android One version or not (it still doesn't). This is a common problem as there are sellers of Moto X4 phones which are Android One and Project Fi compatible, but they do not specifically state so in their advertisements. That is why I asked the question. Also, if you would have read the first answer to my question before posting yours, you would have seen that a Motorola representative has already replied that this phone is NOT the Android One version. As a result of this answer I purchased my Moto X4 Android One compatible phone elsewhere. Having Android One support direct from Google is important to me as updates are assured. In my experience, Motorola (a Lenovo company) is not reliable when it comes to timely updates. I believe you can tell if your Moto X4 is an Android One version or not by going to Settings > System > About Phone, then look under Software Variant, it should say "google_fi".
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Look at the pictures of the phone. The picture of the back clearly says Android One on it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is 100% supported by the Android One system. S long as it's an Android One version of the phone. Just read in the specs if unsure before purchase.
