• A:Answer Just confirming your experience. All of my basic Mr Coffees never broke down. I upgraded to this one and in the first 30 days it did exactly what yours did. I got a replacement from Best Buy. The replacement is at the 45 day mark and still working. Sorry to hear about your experience. I have to admit I wonder if my second one may break down also. I am in a wait and see mode. No suggestions.

• A:Answer The coffee maker shuts itself off after 4 hours or you may shut it off. However, the coffee cools without the heating plate. It is best to leave the brewer on as long there is, at least, one cup of coffee in the carafe, otherwise the remaining coffee will burn.

• A:Answer Try the manufacturer. I contacted them because I felt the carafe broke way too easily and they sent me a new one "as a courtesy" I assume they are pretty liberal with replacements if you are making a compelling argument for the failure of a unit that should have higher expectations.

• A:Answer You fill up the water reservoir with 4 cups of vinegar, put a filter in the basket and put the carafe back onto the warming plate then press the clean button. The coffee maker runs a cycle and then shuts off. Almost like a dishwasher.

Q: QuestionWithin the brewer itself where the water is boiling, does it have any rubberized parts that might leach into the water?

• A:Answer The water does not boil it runs through a heating source that is not visible, I doubt there are any rubber components there but cannot guarantee that. There is only one piece of rubber I can see but it is there for the lid not in the water and no where near the heat. This has been a great replacement for our original M. Coffee that decided to leak during brewing.
