• Yes. You need to have a Nest Wifi router for the Nest Wifi point to work. Nest Wifi router needs to be directly connected to your modem via the WAN port with an Ethernet cable. Once it's setup, you can add the Nest Wifi point to create a mesh network. If you're using an Optimum modem/router combo, we recommend disabling the Wi-Fi functionality of the combo to avoid a Double NAT case which may cause connectivity issues.
