I would get rid of the Netgear router and just use the mesh system. I would hook the modem up to the nest Wifi router then place the points appropriately throughout the house.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, I have a Netgear router and connected my Google Nest to the router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This setup may work but keep in mind, Nest Wifi points should always be connected to Nest Wifi router. Also, having your Nest Wifi router connected to your other router instead of your modem will create two private Wi-Fi networks which is not necessarily a problem but can be a problem if you are playing online games or using port forwarding. This is called a Double NAT and you can find out more about it here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6277579 In such a case, we recommend putting your other router in Bridge mode, connecting Nest Wifi router to it, and then connecting Nest Wifi points to Nest Wifi router to create a mesh Wi-Fi network. You can check out this article for Bridge mode : https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6240987 and this article for our recommended hardwiring options : https://support.google.com/wifi/answer/7215624?hl=en
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Im using my old Netgear unit (Modem-router combo) and have Nest plugged into its ethernet port. I didnt have to rename my existing 2.4 and 5.0 devices to connect to the Nest. you can use the old router as long as you plug the Nest into the modem ethernet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. it works or you can actually set this up and use the LAN port to connect Netgear router to Google Router
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. What is I have a Netgear router/modem in 1 device? How do i connect the mesh?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Most likely but it will just get a DHCP address from your LAN CIDR assigned from the WiFi router. It would be best probably to set the WiFi router you already have to a bridge mode and let google WiFi manage the LAN. You should also turn off WiFi on the other router ( or just remove it since it’s pointless to have another WiFi device spamming their radio on top of the nest WiFi’s )
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, you will not need your Netgear router anymore. You will connect the Google Nest Wifi router to the modem. The other two points just need a power source.
