If you buy this modem you do need a seperate router. I have done this and it is much better then getting a modem/router combo. I had the combo before but this is much better in terms of speed. The combo is good but do get the better product if you can't get seperate items. Hope this helps
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think you can still rent a single router from comcast but I wouldn't recommend it. They are usually refurbished and you can save quite a bit of money instead of renting. Plus you can much faster routers to match the blast speeds that comcast puts out.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes you will need a router, if you also need wireless, then you could get a wireless router and it would knock out two birds with one stone, placement may be an issue if the router is in a closet and tucked away ...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you will need to buy a separate router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is just a modem. It must be paired with a router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is a modem only, not a combo. Yes you will need a router
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, if you want a router/combo product then I recommend getting the Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi Router

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This model does NOT include a router but Netgear makes a model that is a router/modem combo.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you go with this modem you would need a separate wifi router. As a general approach I prefer that separation so they can be upgraded (or replaced when one dies) independently. If you want a modem/wifi router combo, you might want to look at the NETGEAR - Nighthawk AC1900 Wi-Fi Router with DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem which I've linked as a recommendation. Please note that I put it as a recommendation just because that's the only option for linking another product. I have not used it so cannot make a recommendation. And as mentioned above, my real recommendation would be to go with this modem and a separate wifi router.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you need a separate wifi router. But if you're concerned about performance that's what you want to do anyway. This modem combined with a Nighthawk (or one of the other Netgear routers) provides superior performance to the modems provided by the ISP's and any modem/router combo out there.
