Please try again later.The other two reviews were marked unhelpful when they are the correct answer. tldr; ISPs usually give a combo device that does the modem, router, and switch capabilities. This one only delivers the internet signal. To further explain, when a product such as this is labeled as a modem, it is simply the device delivering the internet signal from the provider (ISP) to the subscriber (or customer). The devices typically given when you are renting, leasing, or possibly given is actually a combination device. It's typically a modem (coaxial), a wireless router, [the antenna(s)] and often, but not always, contains a switch built into it [usually the 4 RJ45 (ethernet) ports on the back] for simplicity. Some devices also have phone lines routing through the same combo device. I'm hoping it helps by explaining the above.
