Yes this router combo will work. My house is almost 3000 square feet and it works everywhere in the house and even in the garage.

Range depends on most heavily on the wireless standard of the network.There may be a difference but it's unlikely that it will be one your satisfied with. Your best bet is to either find a channel which offers the least interference or to get a wireless bridge/ repeater.

I thought I up graded with this one, I get wifi in the other rooms now, just not full signal. :/ I may have to buy the wifi extender. I thought it should have worked 100% at that price. but it doesn't.
