I’m answering my own question after much trial and error testing. The answer is “Yes,” but on a Brother WiFi printer you may have to disable IPv6 under Network>Protocol>AirPrint>Advanced Settings>IPv6.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have an old Dell laser printer; it can only connect to 2.4G band, and it doesn't support apple AirPrint, but I can print pictures and documents through iPad/iPhone by using Dell's printing app over the wifi, both 5G and 2.4G.
