Yes - the basis of this product is that is has built-in powerline wiring technology to communicate with the DST adapter - which would be one of the only ways to get signal into a tough spot without running more cables.

It appears to, but didn't work for me. Perhaps if you put the DST adapter on the same electrical circuit as the router is plugged into, but where I wanted to extend the wifi range the outlet was on a different circuit. I returned it because that was the reason I bought it.
