Q: QuestionI'm looking for a way to extend my wifi into a steel building, up to 300 feet. Is there a wifi extender available that will penetrate through?

• A:Answer If the building has electricity, the optimal thing to do is to try an extender in the building to see if it can pick up the router's signal. If it does, then you're in business. The extenders work by picking up the signal and then boosting it from that point, so if the router signal is strong, an extender could work in the building. 300 feet is quite a distance, however.

Q: QuestionUsing the AC2200 as an Access Point can I connect to a U-verse Wireless Receiver? I'm thinking of swapping out my Cisco VEN501 Access Point for more signal strength.

• A:Answer I'm not sure. This NETGEAR EXTENDER will take an existing WiFi signal and make it go farther than without it. For example, I used this to get my Spectrum Modem/Router, which is up on the third floor, extend the WiFi signal to the first floor and outside so I could get my Ring Doorbell to work. Without it the Spectrum Router only had a weak WiFi signal on the bottom floor (and practically none outside) so the doorbell didn't work. I plugged the NETGEAR into the second floor living room outlet and it works great. The signal reaches inside and outside and with full strength and I was able to do the setup etc., with Ring. The NETGEAR WiFi Extender connects to your existing WiFi and then it will issue its own signal and assigning it the same name with *_EXT (after the name so you know it's the Extender that you're connected to). When you first set it up you do that in the same room where the modem/router is and then you move the NETGEAR to the area that's in-between the strong and weak WiFi signal. If your U-Verse Receiver is also the modem/router for that's sending out your WiFi signal then it should work.

Q: QuestionI have Xfinity and I plugged this in and went through the start manual. It showed all green and a network came up, but the name was Netgear_ext, not my home network. I went to the website and did not find the New Extender setup as in the manual.

• A:Answer Check your setup again. When the setup cycles thru the question prompts, one of them will have you enter your current home wifi name. Then, at the end, you will see your current wifi name plus <wifi name>_2GEXT and <wifi name>_5GEXT. So, when your setup is complete, you will have three home wifi names instead of one.
