Yes, you can hard wire & it has many benefits. Many people mistake the fact that just because these are WIFI devices, that EVERYTHING should be wireless. Not so. You CAN use these via wireless-only and in some situations that is the best solution. Although if you have the option to do the back haul via a wired connection, you will potentially: Increase the WIFI throughput to your devices (phones, tablets, etc) Make your device run cooler because it doesn't have to transmit on another radio. Clean up the airwaves for your neighbors (minor issue today) Most wired connections have the potential to run 2x the throughput of WIFI. As WIFI speeds increase this will matter less, but up until now wired has always been the reliable, steady, drop-free method of transmitting data. Remember, if you've placed a satellite in a location of the building that needs better coverage, that suggest that the satellite itself MAY have marginal ability to relay your data to the base station. Having said this, remember each install has its unique challenges and needs to be addressed with the technology that gives the greatest benefit. -Best Wishes on your install.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hard wired is definitely the way to go for backhaul. I had 3 routers go out from lighting. Before that, I thought I had fast efficient internet using them as access points . Boy was I wrong! This Orbi system makes all my devices faster than I ever imagined. Mine are Daisey chained but, could be faster paralel.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, but you can. The main benefit of wiring the connections it to have a stronger connection to your satellites. You may ask, “then what’s the point of a mesh system if it isn’t all wireless?” This is because your main points of connection between your WiFi and devices should be your satellites so that it is the strongest possible connection. Bottom line: connecting your satellites over Ethernet cable essentially removes the wireless connection between the main router and satellites where connection could be degraded and replaces it with a wired one. Don’t forget that you will also have to invest in cat6 or better Ethernet cables if you use this mesh system to it’s full potential.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the SAME Question as many reviews said they HARDWIRED and I felt WTH isn't this supposed to be WIFI? SO if you were HARDWIRING to every location, it would make ZERO sense. DO I NEED the NIGHTHAWK wifi router with this, or does it work off the one I have or does it use it's own??
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Couple benefits to hard wire. You can repurpose some older orbi satellites (like RBS50 for example). And two, if you have a big home and are worried about degradation of signal between satellites, hardwire mitigates that issue
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. They have dedicated 5G link (in addition to what your connected devices would use). If you desire to use wired in between them, you can but it'd defeat the purpose, would it not?
