I recently spoke with someone from Netgear on a similar matter. She stated that utilizing a modem/router combo was not a good idea. Having more than one router causes problems I suppose. How can you disable the router on the cable/router Altice? I believe it can be done, but I don't know exactly how to go about this. This system, in short is just a mesh system that functions as a router/satellite combo. Netgear sells an Orbi system that functions as a cable/router combo. However, it is not Quad-Band or 6E and is a step down (Wifi6 compatible, I believe-AX4200 WiFi Mesh System CBK753). The rep told me that if I wanted the AXE11000 mesh system, I should purchase a seperate modem capable of supporting the appropriate speeds that I subscribe to (over a Gig/s). She recommended a CM2000, which is NETGEAR. Go figure! BestBuy also sells NETGEAR modems, I believe (Nighthawk, etc.).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Best to put your cable modem into bridge mode and use it solely as a modem. Let the Orbi router and satellite system do the networking… including the ones needed for your smart devices. Orbi actually has a great option for a separate IoT SSID solely for smart decices within the home. The intuitive features of the mobile apps offer great control over all these features.
