Netgear requires all users to create a account and you have to provide a valid email address and verify your email address. This is a required step of Netgear and is a bit of a over reach. If the email address isn't verified within a curtain period of time it deactivates the router and you can't have your money refunded because bestbuy no longer refunds on routers even though the manufacturer and seller sold you a lemon.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you are required to create an account. this is for several purposes, but mainly marketing. they want that info to blast you with email offers and sell your information down the line to pad the bottom line. You might enjoy the features behind the account wall like vpn, remote router access and the like. pretty pathetic that its locked behind an account wall. Also, the account is required to exercise your right to warranty coverage. No account = no coverage. E.V.I.L.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I used the app and did create an account, but I seem to remember there was also a website that could be used.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You do have the option of accessing your orbilogin.com account via your web browser while connected to your network. Instructions for setting up and managing your Orbi router system can be found in the User Manual here: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rbk50.aspx?cid=wmt_netgear_organic#docs
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you need to set up a netgear account and it is simple to do so. Yes you can control it from your computer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I created an account because there are some advanced features you can leverage if you have one. One example is setting a security policy but allowing some devices to bypass that security. I'm just not sure if basic operations can be accomplished without setting up a username password. You can control this with your Computer or your Mobile device. There is an app. called, "Genie" that provide a dashboard like control of the network operations and features. The app is a easier user interface but you can also access the Orbi like you do with any other router through a configuration/management console by access the local IP address of the Orbi.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No need to create any type of Netgear account. Just a local ID/password like any other router. I didn't see a lot of value in cloud management. I did all the configuration via the web interface like any router. I am not aware of a smartphone app nor have I tried accessing the web interface via a smartphone, but I would think it would work. I very infrequently change any router settings so it didn't seem important to have an app.
