I kept my old router as an additional layer of security (at least I hope!) but disabled the wi-fi on it so that it would not compete for bandwidth with the Orbi. I just connected the Orbi's Internet port to my router and it worked fine. The Orbi did complain about network address collisions (apparently, both the router and Orbi wanted to use the 192.168.x.x network), but the Orbi simply changed to the 10.x.x.x addresses and works fine. I did have to unplug the network cables on some of my wired devices so they would refresh their addresses, but that's not a big deal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it will work with any high speed internet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Orbi AC3000 will replace your frontier router, but you must keep your modem provided by frontier. If you have a modem/wireless router all-in-one, you just need to turn off the wireless feature built in. It’s good to know your ISPs internet speed. If your on a super slow DSL that’s getting 10-20 mbps, this won’t help. This router system is designed for those with larger homes or dead spots. Get the fastest (or one step down) internet you can find and that typically comes from the cable providers and not phone company. DSL is not high performing.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it will work with your current frontier service and router. I currently use my Orbi system with a Frontier router. Setup is simple. Just download the app, scan the QR code on the Orbi unit, and it will walk you through the rest of the setup. Setup should take approximately 15 minutes..
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on why you're currently having connectivity issues. If the reasons include your current router not covering enough square footage, supporting the number of connected devices, not supporting your subscribed speeds, etc, it's possible you may see an improvement across all connected devices. If the issue is the service from your ISP, that is something you would have to address with your ISP directly. The RBK50 Orbi router system was designed to cover approximately 5,000 sq. ft. under a single SSID utilizing its AC3000 Tri-Band mesh network. It can either replace your current router (you will still need a modem as one is not built in) or run alongside it in Access Point mode. Instructions for setting up the Orbi in AP mode are located beginning on page 83 of the User Manual: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RBK50#docs.
