You are correct. The two adapters plug into the wall, one near your router and one wherever you want an Ethernet connection. This is not a wireless device. I have an older satilite receiver that has an Ethernet port, but is not WiFi enabled. This solution works perfectly, and for some heavy traffic (movies, streaming, etc). Security is a good question. You have the option to very easily set up a private secure network between the adapters. The adapters are connected in a secure network by pressing a security button on each adapter (and you can add more adapters later using the same process). I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU DO THIS as the adapters come with a generic network security profile that all homeplug AV-certified adapters use. The instructions on how to do this are very clear and simple. While this setup appears to me to be secure, I am not a security expert. Please consult one if you have concerns.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the network connection travels via electric current, neat right? You can encrypt the connection by pressing the lock on the bottom but there is not need unless you share the same electric circuit with other people such as in a condo/apt and the other person plugs in a Powerline Adapter like yours.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not wireless must use Ethernet cord. Wired signal is stronger anyways. They also have one that sends a wireless signal for a little more money. You can also press the security button on one device and press it on the other one (within 2 minutes) and it will secure your connection. You can also set a password if you want to.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yea you use an Ethernet cable
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have found no security issues.
