Q: QuestionDo these devices share the neutral line as the "antenna" between devices? I ask this because I have a weak ethernet in the garage 100 feet away from the house, but the signal drop of that distance takes my 100pps down to about 15mps.

• A:Answer Powerline adapters use the Line and Neutral wire as a physical connection between the adapter pair - there are newer versions that also use the Ground wire. The P1000 is rated as 1Gbps but real-world speed may be around 400 Mbps. Still, it depends on how you place/ use the adapters - is it on the same power circuit with other 'noisy' appliances? You mentioned that you are connecting to the garage- is the circuit a GFI circuit (should also avoid power strips and/or UPS)? The 100ft distance should not be an issue since the adapters can operate 900-1000ft between the adapter pair, but it also depends on what is between (e.g. breaker boxes, the real wire distances, old wiring, what is operating on the circuit, etc). Overall, a powerline adapter should provide a solid continuous (physical) ethernet connection as compared to a WiFi connection.

• A:Answer The amount of increase would depend, I think, on two factors. First, what is your current upload speed? Second, what is the condition of your home electrical wiring system (up-to-date systems will conduct the signal most effectively)? Of course, this product cannot increase your speed beyond the maximum specifications of your home internet service. My circumstance was that the wifi strength indicator showed "weak" throughout most of the house. With the powerline adapter installed, an online speed measuring app (there are several free ones out there) shows a very strong, steady signal - I just measured 48 Mbps download, 12 upload. We have been able to have video meetings smoothly and clearly, and stream workout videos without interruption. These were both changes and improvements. Good luck!

• A:Answer As long as you have an open port/slot (RJ-45). No problem. need to remember extenders allow the WiFi signal to reach places otherwise are not reachable due to building construction and nasties that block WiFi. The item in this inquiry are power line adapters. which will allow you to extend the LAN cable connector to any other part or your building/home. having that in mind it would be like having a router wherever you have an electrical outlet. So you would now have a LAN connection to plug into your laptop/computer into for network connection. Hope this helped.

Q: QuestionCan i use this to connect an IP camera to an NVR? The "modem" side would plug into the dedicated POE port on the NVR and the other side would connect to the IP camera. Trying to install a normally wired POE camera where I can't run the wire directly.

• A:Answer Nope. You would need a signal booster. Since it's a Campus shared connection there are many other factors to consider when trying to understand why connectivity is poor. For instance location of the nearest access point, buildings blocking line of sight, and let us not forget the number of connections already "live" lowering the bandwidth. Hence the need for your own connection/router/modem. Maybe you could get a couple of other dormers to going in on a modem you can share among yourselves. Good luck with that.

• A:Answer Absolutley, since your not using WIFI. The power line adapter is designed to allow you to provide a LAN connection wherever there is an power outlet. Now if you still need to go WIFI I would consider changing, if possible, the WIFI signal to the 5Ghz, if available. The Microwave is also using the 2.4 WIFI and it blows the complete 2.4 spectrum away.Best to you.

• A:Answer It all depends on your home's wiring. Mine only gives me about 20% of what the throughput should be but that 20% is more reliable than the wireless signal in that part of the house. I kept it because of that. Your results might be better or worse. Unfortunately you will have to try it to be sure.
