• Thank you for contacting Newair. The plastic container is a courtesy item we provide to help keep the humidity in the unit at a healthy level for the wine corks. To use it properly simply place any amount of distilled water in the container and place it inside the unit where it is not in the way. This will prevent the corks from drying out.Best Regards, Customer Care
