Any router will work fine for this application because it will be connected with an ethernet cable. Now if you want to setup port forwarding, some router manufacturers make it easier than others but a call to Night Owl customer support can help you set it up. But if you are buying a new router anyway, consider a good top of the line consumer grade router. I like Asus and Apple, Of course you want big coverage area for wi-fi, beamforming technology, AC speed and don't forget reliability and customer service. Expect to spend about $200 or more.

I recommend having more than Ethernet ports I have 2 and had trouble since I also have Vonage so I had to reconfigure it..
