• Yes, that is exactly what it means. Channels mean how many cameras can be added to the DVR. So this one can hold a max of 8. Thank you!

• Yes it does mean that you can add 4 more cameras later. You will have to order them on line because most places will not sell them seperately. I needed mine in a hurry so I had to buy the DVR and cameras together.
