  • QuestionWill this lens work for baseball photography? as well does it work on a D3300?

    Asked by BF.

    • Answer The 18-300 is an excellent choice to capture distant subjects with your D3300. Keep in mind that the aperture on the lens is variable. That means - the numbers quoted on the lens f/3.5-6.3 mean the fastest aperture you can get, when you have your lens zoomed to 300mm is f/6.3. That will be fine when you are in brighter lighting conditions, such as daylight. However, when the light is dimmer, just boost your ISO up to freeze the action!

  • QuestionWHAT IS THE DEFERENT BETWEEN CPU LENSES & NON-CPU LENSES

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer CPU lenses have a built-in Central Processing Unit (CPU). When a CPU lens is attached to a DSLR camera, metal contacts on the lens are used to communicate lens information and provide power and instructions to the lens from the camera. Non-CPU NIKKOR lenses refer to the early generations of NIKKOR lenses which were developed for Nikon film cameras, at that time photographers were manually controlling all the functions of the lens and camera to acquire optimal exposure and picture composition. Non-CPU lenses do not have contacts to communicate data to the camera to perform focusing and perform other calculations. Modern NIKKOR lenses, like this AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR Lens, are CPU lenses.

  • QuestionIs this lens compatible with the Nikon D-850?

    Asked by Leah.

    • Answer Yes. the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR Telephoto Zoom lens is completely compatible with the Nikon D850 FX-format DSLR camera, however, because it is a DX-format lens you will experience a 1.5 crop in images when using it with the D850, which has an FX-format sensor. The AF-S 18-300mm is a versatile, lightweight lens that is ideal for wide-angle landscapes and group photos, beautiful bokeh portraits and extreme close-ups. It's an all-in-one, must-have lens for any growing camera bag.

  • QuestionWhich is better for me The Nikon 18-300 or the 28-300? I do a lot of sports pictures but pick up a few small wedding inside churches too. I see the 28-300 says not good for low light but what is low light for say (inside a Church?)

    Asked by Rojoes.

    • Answer Both the AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR would be great additions to your camera bag and are capable of shooting weddings, portraits, sports events, and low light situations. You will want to keep in mind when deciding which lens to purchase that these are two different formats – the 28-300mm being an FX format lens and the 18-300mm being a DX format lens. An FX lens on a DX camera will result in a magnified image, referred to as the 1.5x crop factor. A DX lens on an FX camera may result in a vignette effect, which can be prevented by adjusting your Image Area settings in the camera to DX (24 x 15) 1.5x.

  • QuestionWill this work for a nikon d610?

    Asked by shelbywebster.

    • Answer Yes, the D610 is compatible with this AF-S lens. FX cameras can use DX lenses; however to avoid vignetting, the DX crop mode is automatically selected by the camera when a DX lens is attached.

  • QuestionIs this compatible with the D850

    Asked by aggragets.

    • Answer The AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR Lens (Model 2216) is compatible with the D850. However, this is a DX format lens and is optimized for use on DSLRs with the smaller DX sensor. When a DX lens is used on an FX camera, like the D850, the camera will switch over to DX Crop Mode. In DX crop mode the D850's largest available Image Size is reduced to 5,408 x 3,600 (19.4 Megapixels). FX format lenses would be a better choice for the D850. For an FX format lens with a similar zoom range consider the AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5 -5.6G ED VR Lens (Model 2191).

  • QuestionIs this compatible with D3200?

    Asked by Quinn.

    • Answer Yes, this lens should be compatible with the D3200. Both the camera and the lens are DX format and the lens is an AF-S type which has the focus motor inside the lens which is what you need with the D3200. The D3200 does have the ability to adjust for lens distortion within the camera. However, this lens was released after the D3200. If you have not updated your camera's firmware and/or distortion control data, this lens may not be included. You should check your camera's firmware version and see if you need an update. If you don't want to update the camera firmware, You can manually adjust the distortion in programs such as Photoshop or Lightroom. Go to http://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/products/20/D3200.html and click on the firmware tab for more information regarding how to check the firmware versions and do the update.

    Asked by jbird.

    • Answer No it is slightly heavier than the standard lens but it takes great pics and i wish i bought it earlier. The convienence of only having one lens and not having to carry extra lenses far "outweighs" the added weight!
