  • QuestionWill this lens work right with the d7200? Will it focus? Well is it compatible for the d7200? I know it’s a FX

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer It will work fine on a dx body and yest it will focus just fine. If you are using this is a portrait lens, remember with the 1.5 crop factor it will present a field of view closer to that of a short telephoto but I have used it and it will work just fine.

  • QuestionWhat is a good lens for nature close up photography, flowers, insects and other nature shots. I have a d3400 nikon.thanks

    Asked by Huw.

    • Answer I use the "AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G" for micro photography. I also use the "AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G" when I can't get as close to the subject. Both lens will work on your D3400, to my knowledge (i.e., I owned and used these lens on my D3300 before moving up to the D750).

  • QuestionHow well will this lense work on the Nikon D3400, specifically referring to the aperture?

    Asked by Janina.

    • Answer This lens is designed for full frame cameras. It will work with your camera but it will not be as good as having an DX lens. The biggest problem you're going to have is it will crop the picture.

  • QuestionIs this a good portrait lense for a d3200 Nikon

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer This is THE PORTRAIT LENS to have, an 85mm (a good one) should be in every photographers bag - HOWEVER, although the most expensive camera in the world won’t substitute for the person operating it, I would recommend putting a little more money into a better body before throwing the $500 toward a lens. The 3200 is a great starter piece, but I’m pretty sure that body alone is less money than this lens.. just my two cents.

  • Questionis this compatible with d3200 and will this blur out the background of a full body portrait? alot more then a suttle blur? also will it blur the background if im close up to a baby and i want everything else to have a harsh blur?

    Asked by chrissy.

    • Answer Yes!! That’s what I currently have and I used this lens for a wedding session and the pictures turned out beautiful. You won’t regret it! The only negative is that there is no zoom, so you either have to walk up close to your object or walk back away from your object. Besides that, this is the lens I use for most of my photography sessions and it’s great in low light situations. The “bokeh” which is the blur part you were inquiring about is great! When you have your camera set and focused on your object it will beautifully blur out the surroundings and on the D3200 you can manually or automatically set it to focus on the object. I prefer manual so I know that everything else will be blurred out.

  • Questionis this compatible with my d5500??

    Asked by hello.

    • Answer The D5500 does not have a built-in autofocus motor. The camera requires lenses that have the motor built-in to them. Nikon denotes these type of lenses with an AF-S designator. This stands for Nikon's Silent Wave Autofocus motor. It is extremely quiet and fast in operation. The 85mm f/1.8G is an AF-S type lens. It is 100% compatible with your camera. Just a side note, even lenses without the AF-S designator can be used. You would not have autofocus, but you can focus manually.

  • QuestionIs it compatible with the D5000 series?

    Asked by Lulu.

    • Answer The D5000-series cameras do not have an auto focus motor built-in to the camera. The camera will require lenses that have a built-in focus motor. Nikon denotes these type of lenses with an AF-S for Nikon's Silent Wave Autofocus motor. The 85mm f/1.8G does have a built-in focus motor. The lens will be compatible with the D5000-series cameras. Lenses that DO NOT have a focus motor can still be used. The focus, however, would need be obtained manually.
