Any brand, 4 rechargeable batteries. Purchase two sets and Carry Your spares. I replace the first four in about 6 months, swap the spares over to the main, and keep the new ones as spares.

The Nikon COOLPIX B500 digital camera comes with four temporary, non-rechargable AA batteries. After these are no longer usable you can replace them with compatible replacements. Compatible battery types are four LR6/L40 (AA-size) alkaline batteries, four FR6/L91 (AA) lithium batteries or four EN-MH2 Rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. Name brand, fresh alkaline batteries, which are not rechargeable, will provide approximately 600 shots or about 1 hour and 30 minutes of movie recording time. You can also try lithium batteries, which will provide about 1240 shots or approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes of time for movie recording. Using EN-MH2 Ni-MH batteries will allow you to get about 2 hours and 30 minutes of recording time or approximately 750 shots for stills.
