The Nikon 1 J5 camera and the Nikon 1 AW1 camera are both mirrorless options. There are only a couple of differences between them. The main difference being that the Nikon 1 AW1 is waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof. Another difference is the amount of megapixels offered; the Nikon 1 AW1 offers up 14.2 million effective megapixels as compared to the 20.8 million effective megapixels that the Nikon 1 J5 does. The Nikon D3400 DSLR, on the other hand, offers up 24.2 effective megapixels but it is not a mirrorless camera. All three cameras offer a continuous option for capturing images at a fast rate, so as not to miss important moments. The Nikon D3400 offers 5 frames per second, the Nikon 1 J5 will allow you to get 20 frames per second and the Nikon 1 AW1 offers 15 frames a second with an extra option of 30/60 frames per second. All three of these cameras are great for novice users, but the Nikon D3400 is the only one to provide a built-in guide mode to help you learn how to use the many features it has.
