I can only speak for myself........I started on a Nikon camera, and am still very new to photography. To me, the D3400 was the best choice for me.....very straight forward directions. As to what types of lenses you want to purchase, you can buy a camera kit , the price includes the camera itself plus two kit lenses. As to blurry backgrounds, that will come with learning about terms like ISO, aperature and shutter speed. As to what lenses you can use with a particular camera...........get to know your camera first, then worry about what other lenses you want to purchase. Remember, with a camera kit, you usually get 1 to 2 lenses included in the purchase price.

The kit listed here includes two Nikon AF-P lenses, an AF-P DX 18-55mm VR lens to help you get closeby subjects and an AF-P 70-300mm for subjects that are further away; these lenses use a pulse motor which allows for smoother and near-silent autofocus. The D3400 is ideal for those who are new to using DSLR cameras. It has a built-in Guide Mode that teaches the user how to set the camera for the effect they want to achieve, such as a softly blurred background with a sharply focused subject (bokeh). It also has an Auto Mode that will allow you to capture amazing images in auto settings by just pointing and shooting, with more modes and settings available once you're ready to expand your skills. The D3400 camera is completely compatible with Nikon's AF-S, AF-P and newer E type lenses and has a limited compatibility with Nikon's AI and AF type lenses.
