• A:Answer It is not a bad choice for a starter camera. For basic family fun photos and such. The two lens will work fine to start with. Later invest in a wide lens. Lastly for speed setting that will all be camera settings.

Q: QuestionCan I override the auto exposure so I can get just the right exposure on the subject I am interested in? Sometimes a scene has bright sun and some areas in shade, and autoexposures take the average light ,making some areas too bright and some too dark.

• A:Answer The 70-300 zoom takes 58mm. This is different that the short zoom "normal" 18-55mm, which takes a 55mm filter. My old Nikon 35mm spoiled me with almost all lenses taking 52mm filters. Now I need two polarizers, two close-up filters. but this is better than needing one set of those plus all different color correction filters for different sources of light for film photography. That is now done electronically. Some special effects are also electronic, and I am not so concerned about using many other optical filters.

Q: QuestionIs it easy to upload pictures to my iPad? I notice that the 2nd lens is a 75/300 zoom, not a 70/300. Canon has the 70/300. Neither the Nikon or Canon telephoto is VR.
