Hey Plasticsdoc! You'll definitely need the Nikon FTZ Converter. Your D5300 is an F-mount, and your Sigma lens is, too. The Z-30 uses Z-mount, so that lens will not attach without the converter. I went through this myself. I had a Nikon D7500 (F-mount) and I have two Sigma prime lenses. Wanted to go mirrorless, the D7500 is not unfortunately (great camera though). Got the converter so I could use those lenses on my Z-30. Works amazing! Auto-focus still functions as it would without the adapter. Quality is not compromised at all. In fact, my Z-30 with adapter and Sigma lenses gave me better quality than my D7500 in some cases. And a nugget of news for you, Sigma announced it will be releasing Z-mount lenses in 2023. So excited! Sigma makes great lenses and they're a bit cheaper than a number of its competitors for sure! One of the best decisions I've made. Buying the adapter meant I could use the lenses I already have (and not sell my soul to buy replacements...hahaha). So in my opinion, if you have lenses in your arsenal and you want to be able to use them on a new body, buying the adapter is worth the investment. Sorry for the essay, but I totally understand your question and wanted to chime in. Peace and blessings my friend, and best of luck as you're looking to upgrade!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Need an adapter
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you can use FTZ or FTZ II to use DSLR lens on Z30.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You would need an adapter
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will need a Mount Adapter FTZ II adapter to use any f mount DSLR lens on a Nikon mirrorless camera. Nikon DSLR cameras use f-mount.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I do not believe that the 5300 is a Z mount compatable camera. The Nikon FTZ adapter is made to be able to mount Nikon G lenses on Z cameras and there are other after market adapters that go the other way, but they may not work with the auto focus on the Z, and they can be expensive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will need the FTZ converter. I have version 2 and it doesn't have a tripod mount like the original one if that is a concern for you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you will need a converter. The mirrorless Z mount is different from the F mount.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will need Nikon's converter to convert it from the old mount (DX) to the new Z mount. It's $250 on Nikon's website and form what I've heard works very well.
