I’ve been using paper number 4 filters for 5 cup brews for 6 months now. Never an over flow problem, period.

It comes with a reusable mesh filter but occasional sediment seeps through. For extra filtration, you are able to use a paper filter #4.

You don’t have to use paper filters at all, the filter is already there with the fine mesh screen. If you have a refillable that is cone shaped, then I believe you could but I haven’t tried it.

It comes with a reusable filter and no longer need paper filters.

Use the permanent filter that comes with the maker. You can also use a paper filter within the that filter.
