The bottom gets a little hot so I set it on my stovetop if I'm not using the stove. If using stove I set the air fryer on a thick placemat on the counter and it's fine. There is a vent on the backside of the air fryer that sort of warms the wall if it's too close, but no extraordinary heat. The sides of the fryer are not too hot to touch.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The hottest temperature inside that can be set is 450 degrees and the outside will get hot. I wouldn't try to pick it up until it cools down. The handle and door is cool to the touch no potholders needed. I weight until I'm finished eating and I clean the inside and then pick up the air fryer and store it.
