I believe that the processor and gaming performance are the exact same on the 2DS VS 2DS XL & 3DS XL ect. The price aspect is that the foldable screen has protection when closed against debris, dust... The 2DS does not fold and is always exposed to dust, scratches, without having the ability to close. Simply put, the foldable devices have built in screen protection, and the flat devices don't. (Foldable devices are more premium)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The difference is mainly the folding. If you compare it with the 3DS though the only other difference would be that the 2DS views the 3DS games in 2D. Other than that I haven't noticed any differences when comparing. The foldable one probably would be better for a child since the normal 2DS both screens and the cameras are exposed because it doesn't fold.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The "New" series (New Nintendo 2DSXL and the New Nintendo 3DSXL) have better hardware (So stronger processing power), and therefore plays some games that require powerful processors and only made for the "New" series (Like Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and Minecraft). The "New" series also have built-in amiibo support (The Nintendo 2DS can only read amiibos with an external NFC reader, MSRP $20) The New Nintendo 3DSXL is the most expensive as it supports face-tracking 3D. You can check out the comparison chart here:https://www.nintendo.com/3ds/features/compare As for the durability, I asked some Nintendo employees during one of their mall events and they told me the original 2DS is made to be the most durable handheld across all models.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Personally, I like the 2DS for the primary reasons for younger kids. 1. No 3d, easier on the eyes, especially for long term use. 2. Less moving parts to break, unless you go with the large foldable 2DS XL.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am pretty sure this is less durable judging from what i've heard, But people say it is fine when you get it a case.
