The Switch Lite is perfect for kids, especially if you already have a regular switch. I have the regular switch but the kids ended up playing it so much I bought myself the lite. I ended up getting my older son one as well. I love playing it as I prefer handheld mode and we have the regular switch for when we want to play games on the tv. There is no reason to get a second full Switch unless your son has a tv in his room and wants to play on it. If you have multiple family members that play downloaded games I would keep the main Switch as the primary and make the lite the secondary one as only on the primary account can all users play any downloaded game. This will mean the Switch lite will have to connect to the internet for a second before it plays but that is only an issue when traveling and if you have a hotspot on your phone it works fine and only needs to be online for a brief time. If you don’t have the ability to hotspot when traveling then you can always switch the primary account for traveling and then switch back. So I would definitely recommend the Lite over the regular Switch for a second one and for a kid.

The screen is also smaller (regular is 6.2", Lite is 5.5") 2. Switch Lite Controllers are NOT detachable. 3. Some games, such as 1-2-Switch and Ring Fit Adventure will need separate joy-cons. Games that support handheld mode (check the back of the game box or the scroll on eShop) will work. 4. The Switch Lite CANNOT connect to a TV, no matter what dock you use. 5. Both use the same charger (USB-C). 6. The colors on the switch lite will look different in different lighting. In lighter rooms, for example, blue will look more like teal. 7. I highly recommend you be honest if you are transferring data. All digital games will go to the Lite if the game was bought on that user.

Or does he want his own to play with his friends. Then do you have the money to get him a $300 Nintendo Switch Console. Question for you to think about. CITY
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The switch lite is a great option for mobile gaming when you already have a regular switch. The Lite does NOT connect to the TV, however, if you have Nintendo Online you can sync your game saves between the two. The 30 second extra step will allow him to play mobile, and then pick up and continue on the TV via the other switch. We currently use that setup in our home with 4 Lites and 1 Regular that is docked in the living room.
