Hi there, yes the frame needs to be plugged in at all times to power.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello, Yes. Plugged in all the time if you want to view the pictures in the digital picture frame. There is no battery for charging (which is the only downside to this frame). Hopefully at some point, the company will figure it out that a battery within the frame is a much better solution versus the always plugged-in option - but then again, you would always be needing to charge the frame...(plus I'm sure the cost would increase if there was an embedded battery - that's probably why there is no battery - to the keep the cost manageable).
