A:Answer Update: Answer from Elmo:
2 weeks ago, when I posted this question, our Nokia 2780 had, under settings/ display an “Accessibility Mode” setting (which only enlarges text and increases volume), but it did not even have *any* setting called only “Accessibility”, whether under “Display”, or anywhere else.
I checked for software updates every day, and it would always come back “...up to date...” and every day I checked to see if I could find the plain “Accessibility” setting, but with no luck.
Only thing I could do was to turn down media volume to zero, but that kills the volume for *all* media.
Well, today I checked again, and low & behold – there was the plain “Accessibility” setting under the “Display” setting and under that setting was the setting to turn on or off the readback. I turned it off and bumped up the media volume, and *finally* no more annoying computer voice.
Nokia apparently has either finally updated their software or somehow did something to repair it in our phone.
